Georgina Gower "My passion lies in helping people to move through restrictions in their lives so they can realise their potential and be all that they can be." My passion for balancing body, mind and spirit was borne out of my own personal struggle with serious chronic illness. In late 2002 I was working as a Clinical Research Manager. I was newly married, had a responsible job and an active social life. All this was to change in an instant when one day I collapsed and was left with severe weakness, fatigue, the inability to walk and be able to attend to basic daily needs and a myriad of other symptoms. Thus began the journey back to health that was to last for 6 years. As you can imagine my life was turned completely upside down and everything I had used to define who I was, was stripped away. I had to leave my job, I could not socialise, just walking out to the letter box was a major effort. I now had a new identity, one of a sick person, and I struggled to make sense of what had happened to me and why. Unfortunately my illness was one that conventional medicine put into the too hard basket. Treatments were targeted at symptoms not the cause, so out of necessity I sought out complementary therapies. Through the recovery process I gained an insight into how each level of our being functions in relation to the others and realised that disharmony in one leads to disharmony in all. When we neglect one or more aspect/s of our being, i.e. by neglecting our physical health or by ignoring our emotional needs etc. the other levels will temporarily work harder to compensate but this can only be maintained for a finite period of time before their function starts to break down with serious consequences. I realised that I had been neglecting parts of my life that were fundamental to my soul's needs and if I didn't address them then I would remain unwell and stuck. So I sought out therapies and philosophies of living that supported a holistic approach and soon realised that what I was uncovering for myself was having a positive impact on my health, not only physically but on an emotional and spiritual level. My health improved such that I could begin looking toward the future with optimism and eagerness. It was at this point that I knew I had to utilise my knowledge and first hand experience of moving through trauma to help others, to be able to make the journey smoother for those who were struggling, just as I had been, to make sense of the life that they were now leading. Thus I made the commitment to study and gain qualifications so that I could deliver my knowledge to others. The miracles that I have witnessed in my own life have inspired me and given me the drive to now utilise those experiences and the knowledge that I have since obtained to assist others to become the empowered driving force in their own lives. If you are ready to embark on your journey back to you then it would be my honour to play a part in facilitating your reunion. |
